Happy {Next Step} Weekend

Time is flying. The first month of the new year is already behind us. How was the start of 2012 for you?

I find the pace of things paralyzing sometimes. It's so easy to get swept up in the churn that you loose sight of your path - you know the one I'm talking about - the one where your true passion, joy and freedom is hidden.

Too often, we just keep moving along with the crowd, like a lost soul in the middle of the swarming herd, all stomping toward the same destination without even being able to look up and see where we are headed.

This weekend I'm off to Seattle to take the infamous BlogShop and finally get my Photoshop on {more deets here}. Blogger confession: I've never used it! As in not. ever.

Like AltSummit, I see this as the opportunity to take another leap forward.  Maybe not off the cliff edge, but at least one step closer, breaking away from the crowd. It alwasy feels good to sweep some cobwebs off of my own personal path and sometimes that's the best you can do.

I also get to see some of my besties (love you, you and you) in Seattle. Boy is it a good idea to invest in your friends too.

So, while I might be sending you off into your weekend on a bit of a somber note, sometimes a girl's just got to get a little somethin' off her chest.

I appreciate you listening. And I can't wait to show off my newly acquired design skillz {here's hoping!} next week.

Till Monday luvies,

I'm actually going up to Seattle this weekend too but sadly, not for blogshop. I wish though! Have fun and don't be afraid of photoshop - it isn't that bad!

so awesome you are coming to my city! While you are here I would recommend checking out OddFellows (it was featured in Kinfolk magazine) and Elliot Bay Bookstore which is two stores down :)

I am not sure where you are staying but two other great spots are: Magus Books & Cafe Allegro.

Let me know if you are looking for any other information...

So jealous that you're getting to do BlogShop! I tried to get into the LA one, but it was sold out - twice.

Have fun!

I guess if you can't let out some steam on your own blog, where else can you? :) A change is never a bad thing. Especially when there's something like the new year to help inspire you.

Have a great weekend in Seattle!

Good luck on your trip! Love the quote btw, very true! I am having a reality moment myself too - to stay true to my dreams so you're in good company <3

Wow! Everything you say is so, so true. We often get lost in the hustle and bustle and forget about what we want to do. I made a vow this year to start doing what I love, even I that means saying no to others. To my surprise, most people completely understand and usually support you if your honest with them. Have a fabulous time at the blog workshop (I too am dying to go to one) and I can't wait to hear about it when you get back ;)

I loved this post, Erin. I so appreciate when bloggers are so open and honest! And I think the things you're feeling are not uncommon at all, so it's nice when someone brings it to light. I hope you have an amazing time at Blogshop this weekend! I'm attending the one in NYC in just a few weeks and I can barely contain my excitement!

I completely related to this post. In fact, I'm kind of convinced you wrote it from inside my head. Nothing is more stifling than fear of standing out from the crowd, but, if you think about, it's the ones who do stand out that make the bigger impressions on others. Good for you for taking a risk! I also really love this image, and I plan to use in my own post down the road (with a link back to you, of course!) Enjoy your weekend!

As my last year in high school, a close friend and I decided to fully embody the New Year New You concept in every which way. I can honestly state that I am certainly not the young lady I was last year. All it took was the realization that I could change myself, and nothing was holding me back.
